⏱️ Move-In Time Slots

To provide an efficient Move-In experience, residents moving in this fall are required to select a Move-In Week time slot. Please plan to arrive and check in during your selected time slot.

  • You will be able to pick your Move-In time slot when you receive your assignment confirmation at the end of June.
  • To participate in Welcome Week events, new residents are encouraged to select a Move-In Week time slot on or before August 22.
  • Returning residents are encouraged to select a Move-In Week time slot between August 23 - 24.

Select Your Move-In Time Slot

  • To select a Move-In time slot, you must have a confirmed room assignment or temporary housing assignment. If you are still waiting for an assignment, please be patient as we work through the assignments process. We have plenty of Move-In time slots to choose from and guarantee a time that will accommodate your travel schedule. Assignment confirmations for Room Selection and for contracts submitted during June will be sent out at the end of June.
  • For contracts submitted after June 21, assignments will be completed in the order contracts are received, and assignment confirmation emails will be sent out July 5, 12, 19, 26 and August 2.
  • If you are unable to select a time slot because you will arrive after the last check-in time slot available, please check in at your front desk upon arrival.
  • If you will be unable to arrive by the first day of classes on August 26, please notify the Housing Information Office by email at housing@illinois.edu of when you intend to check in. If you arrive after August 26 without notifying the Housing Information Office, your assignment may change. Failure to claim your room assignment does not automatically cancel your contract.

🪪 Get Your i-card

In order to check in to your hall you will need to have your i-card, which is your official ID for the university. To make the check-in process easier and faster, we recommend you get your i-card ahead of time by visiting the ID Center before checking in to your hall. You can also submit your photo online ahead of time to save even more time.

If you arrive at your hall front desk and do not have your i-card yet, the front desk will provide you with a temporary card. You then have three days to get your i-card and must return the temporary card to the front desk to have your i-card activated.

🚙 Traffic & Parking

Upon arriving to your residence hall, be prepared for some traffic and limited parking.

To help you unload your vehicle quickly and find long-term parking after, follow these instructions:

If you are moving in on August 20 – 22: Follow the Move-In Map directions below for Champaign Halls and Urbana Halls. IMPORTANT: Please do not use your GPS as the directions may vary from the traffic patterns that are set up for Move-In days.

If you are moving in on August 18 – 19 or August 23 – 24: iGuide staff and temporary long-term parking will not be available.
