2020 Spring Break Housing Information
Do you need to stay on campus over spring break? We have housing options and break meal plans available for you! Remember to make your reservation in advance as space is limited.
The undergraduate residence halls close on March 14 at 3 p.m. and open March 22 at 9 a.m.. Spring break accommodations are available March 14–22, 2020.
Complete a Spring Break Housing Contract
The deadline to complete a spring break housing contract is Friday, March 13, at 10:30 a.m. If you are interested in signing up for University break housing, complete the Spring Break Housing Contract form online. There are a limited number of spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis.
After March 13, break housing will only be provided if any spaces remain or become available due to cancellations.
If you need to apply after the online contract is closed, contact one of the following front desks for space availability:
- FAR desk: (217) 333-0840. Once break starts, the PAR desk will be closed. Please contact FAR if you need assistance.

Any student without a Break Housing Contract who accesses a building during a break period will be assessed the full break housing charge amount. In addition, any student who accesses a hall without a Break Housing Contract will be referred to either the Residential Life student conduct process or to the University Police for trespassing.
The rate is $40 per night. The non-refundable charge will be billed to your student account unless the reservation is canceled by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, March 12. To cancel, log back into the Break Housing Contract and click on the link to cancel the contract.
- To change/decrease the number of days staying over break, please email email@example.com with your request. Please note: Changes need to be requested by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, March 12.
- To add days before the deadline, please log into the Break Housing Contract and make the necessary adjustments.
- To add days after the deadline, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your request.
NOTE: There is no additional charge for spring break housing for Global Crossroads LLC residents. However, these residents must still submit a Break Housing Contract. Global Crossroads LLC residents may remain in their assigned spaces over break.

Residents requesting break housing will be housed in a limited number of converted lounge spaces in Florida Avenue Residence Halls (FAR), Pennsylvania Avenue Residence Halls (PAR), and Snyder Hall. Each lounge will have a bed for each break resident (4 students will be assigned to each lounge). Bunked beds are provided.
Current residents of FAR, PAR, and Snyder Hall will be permitted to remain in their own rooms during the break; however, these residents must still submit a Break Housing Contract.
If you need ADA special accommodations, please indicate that on your Break Housing Contract and contact the Housing Information Office.
CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT
On March 14, check-in begins at 9 a.m.
On all other days, you may check-in between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. at the front or area desk (FAR and PAR break housing residents check in at the FAR desk and Snyder break housing residents check in at the Snyder desk).
Please check out and remove all things from your assigned break room by 9 a.m. on the day you plan to depart. No storage of personal items is permitted in break rooms after your contract has ended.
DESK OPERATIONS & RA ON-DUTY HOURS
The FAR and Snyder desks are open 10 a.m.–10 p.m. daily during the break periods.
An RA is on duty every day 10 a.m.–10 p.m. and is available by phone from the exterior callbox to let someone in who arrives to their break housing hall in advance of opening. The desk clerk or RA on duty will assist the resident in completing the Break Housing Contract on arrival.
Dining hall and retail location closing and opening information for break will be made available shortly.
BREAK MEAL PACKAGE
Break housing residents may purchase an optional Break Meal Package that includes 14 meals over break for a flat rate of $150. Meals will be served in the FAR Dining Hall.
Meals begin with brunch on Sunday, March 15, and end with dinner on Saturday, March 21. The non-refundable charge will be billed to your student account unless the reservation is canceled by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, March 12. Global Crossroads LLC residents who select the meal plan will receive a charge for $150 on their student account for the meal portion of the contract.
Meal plan access will be coded on to your I-card. Break housing residents at FAR, PAR, and Snyder will have card access to FAR during meal periods.

BREAK MEAL SCHEDULE AT FAR DINING HALL
Sunday, March 15, through Saturday, March 21
- Brunch: 10:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
- Dinner: 5–7 p.m.
PURCHASE INDIVIDUAL MEALS
If you are not staying for the entire break or you don't want a Break Meal Package, you may purchase meals individually with a credit/debit card or with Illini Cash. Cafe Credits are not available during this time.
Standard door rates will apply for meals purchased with Illini Cash:
- Breakfast: $9.37
- Lunch/Brunch: $11.88
- Dinner: $15.48
