Eleven Unique Options In the Halls
Our living-learning communities (LLCs) offer courses for credit in the halls (including music lessons!), close access to faculty, guest speakers, and field trips.
Business LLC
The Business LLC is designed to serve students who want to pursue business as a field of study, seek to enhance their interest in business, or want to develop a foundational understanding of how business interacts with other fields. Business LLC page
Global Crossroads
This community brings together students of different cultures and backgrounds and houses many international students. Students have opportunities to engage in cross-cultural communications and develop their interests in academic and professional opportunities abroad. Open during fall, winter, and spring breaks. Health Professions
The Health Professions community brings together students with similar professional aspirations in the medical field, especially those with an interest in reaching underserved populations. Residents connect through the specialized opportunities provided like programming, resources, and relevant volunteer and community service opportunities. Health Professions page
Honors LLC
The Honors Living-Learning Community is designed specifically for James Scholars and Campus Honors Program students. This community offers special interdisciplinary courses allowing Honors LLC residents greater interaction with Honors faculty. Curricular and co-curricular aspects of the LLC are designed around the LLC’s three pillars: Inquiry, Civic Engagement, and Leadership. Honors LLC page
Innovation LLC
Innovation LLC is a community for budding entrepreneurs and innovators. The community offers on-site classes in entrepreneurial development and meeting spaces for students to collaborate with others on their ideas for businesses and products. Innovation LLC page
Intersections
Intersections is a community that embraces progressive conversations about race and culture. Residents work together to consider different life experiences and points of view and learn to live in a diverse community. Intersections page
Leadership Experience through Academic Development and Service (LEADS)
LEADS fosters and supports the innate leadership in each student in the community. Programming is focused on building self-development, communication skills, and group dynamics. LEADS page
Sustainability
The Sustainability community allows students from a range of different backgrounds to explore their interest in and commitment to sustainable living. Students work together to learn—from professionals and from one another—about the academic, organic, and experiential facets of sustainability. Sustainability page
Unit One/Allen Hall
Unit One provides residents a small-college atmosphere through a strong community presence. To strengthen community bonding, residents have access to many on-site resources such as classes, a ceramics lab, darkroom, electronic music composition studio, and unique programs such as Guest-in-Residence events. Weston Exploration
Weston Exploration is a community for students to explore their interests and abilities and how they translate into academic goals. Program staff include housing advisors as well as academic and career counselors to aid residents in their career preparations. Weston Exploration page
Women in Math, Science, and Engineering (WIMSE)
WIMSE brings together female students in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) to provide a supportive environment conducive to academic and personal success. Residents benefit from on-site courses and connecting with community members who share their same goals and academic experiences. WIMSE page
