Illinois Marathon 2018

Important Information

Race weekend is coming up April 26–28. There will be a significantly large number of people on campus participating and watching the races. It will be difficult traveling on campus on Friday evening and Saturday, and there will be very limited car access. We want to make sure you are prepared and know what to expect.

The registration and Health & Fitness Expo at the ARC on the evening of April 26 and April 27 from 10 a.m.–7 p.m. may create congestion in the parking lots and streets surrounding the ARC. All roads affected by the 5K Run/Walk on Friday will close between 7–9:30 p.m. — this includes areas around Ikenberry Commons. The course map shows the route for the 5K race. Please pay attention to signs, runners, and volunteers. Plan extra time to travel in the area and expect delays.

On Saturday morning, pre-race events begin at 5:30 a.m. and starting lineup is at 6:30 a.m. It is expected to take until at least 8:30 a.m. for the Marathon runners to pass through the start line due to the number of runners. Participants in the Half Marathon on Saturday will be running through Ikenberry Commons, down Euclid. Pay extra attention to signs, runners, and volunteers. If walking or biking within the course area before noon, you may experience difficulty crossing at intersections. Visit the route map for each event to review road closures and recommended alternate routes and the course impact times for each mile of the race. Plan extra time to travel in the area and expect delays.
