Everybody Eats - University Dining Initiative
We recognize that adequate nutrition improves academic success and alleviates the effects of an insufficient diet. With this in mind, our goal is to support the Illini community from all walks of life by providing a simple, hot meal to supplement personal food resources.
Who can access the food?
This food is available to any University of Illinois community member, and is based on the honor system — no sign-up or ID is needed.
What food is served?
Soup and rice (prepared daily) will be placed in a hot box for access at two different locations, Ikenberry Commons and Illinois Street Residence Halls.
Where are the hot boxes in each location?
- Ikenberry Commons: Located on the second floor of the Student Dining and Residential Programs building (SDRP) in a hallway behind the Caffeinator, directly across from meeting room 2009, the hot box is in a small opening.
- Illinois Street Residence:
- North Entrance: Enter andproceed down the corridor towards a large set of stairs and go around them on the right side. Continue until you reach an area right behind the stairs where the hot box is located, across from an elevator.
- South Entrance: Enter and proceed to go left of the desk. Take the elevator to the ground floor. You will see the hot box upon exiting the elevator.
Can I access the food whenever?
The food is served 7-days a week from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. or until it runs out.
Everybody Eats is a campus-wide initiative to ensure that those in our Illini community have access to a hot meal and are provided with adequate nutrition.
Currently, Everybody Eats has two programs under its umbrella, supported by University departments, each with different meal offerings, Bevier Café (College of ACES) and Everybody Eats (University Housing). To access more information about each program, email firstname.lastname@example.org
