Fall Break Housing Options

Complete a Fall Break Housing Contract

Do you need to stay on campus over fall break? We have some housing options available for you, including meals! Remember to make your reservation in advance, as space is limited.

University Housing's undergraduate residence halls close on Saturday, November 19 at 3:00 p.m. and open Sunday, November 27 at 12 noon. Fall break accommodations are available Saturday, November 19, 2016 through Sunday, November 27, 2016.

  • Residents requesting break housing will be housed in a limited number of converted lounge spaces in PAR, ISR, and Snyder.

  • Current residents of Pennsylvania Avenue Residence Halls (PAR), Illinois Street Residence Halls (ISR), Florida Avenue Residence Halls (FAR), and Snyder Hall will be permitted to remain in their own room during the break; however, current residents still must submit a break contract.

The deadline to apply online for fall break housing is Friday, November 18, 2016 at 10:30 a.m.

Cost

The rate is $40 per night. The non-refundable charge will be billed to your student account unless the reservation is canceled by Thursday, November 17, 2016.

(Please note: There is no additional charge for fall break housing for Global Crossroads residents.)

Location

Residents requesting break housing will be housed in a limited number of converted lounge spaces in ISR, PAR, or Snyder (except current residents of PAR, ISR, FAR, and Snyder, who may stay in their own rooms). Each lounge will have a bed for each break resident (5 to 6 students will be assigned to each lounge). Check-in at ISR, PAR, FAR, and Snyder will start at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2016.

Meal Plan Option

Break housing residents may purchase an optional meal plan. Meals will be served in the lower level dining room at Illinois Street Residence Halls (same location as Chomps, but items will not be a la carte). Break housing residents at FAR, PAR, and Snyder will have card access to ISR during meal periods.  

  • Meal service will be available Sunday, November 20 through Wednesday, November 23, as well as Saturday, November 26. 
  • Sunday meals: brunch and dinner; Monday-Wednesday meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner; Saturday meals: continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • The cost is $100 for the the five-day meal block.

The non-refundable charge will be billed to your student account unless the reservation is canceled by Thursday, November 17, 2016. (Please note: Global Crossroads residents who select the meal plan will receive a charge for the meal option.)

Break Meal Schedule - ISR

Sunday, Nov. 20

  • Brunch: 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
  • Dinner: 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.

Monday, Nov. 21 -Wednesday, Nov. 23

  • Breakfast: 8:30 - 10:00 a.m.
  • Lunch: 12 noon - 1:30 p.m.
  • Dinner: 5:30 - 7:00 p.m

Saturday, Nov. 26

  • Brunch: 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
  • Dinner: 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.

If you select the meal plan option, meal plan access will be coded on to your i-card. Students who are not staying for the entire break may purchase individual meals with a credit/debit card or with Illini Cash. Cafe Credit is not available during this time.

Standard door rates will apply for meals purchased with Illini Cash:

  • Breakfast: $9.21
  • Lunch/Brunch: $11.72 
  • Dinner: $15.26

Reservations Required

The deadline to complete a fall break housing contract is Friday, November 18, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. If you are interested in signing up for University break housing, complete the break housing contract form online. There are a limited number of spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis. After November 18, break housing will be provided if any spaces remain or become available due to cancellations.

Any student without a break housing contract who accesses a building during a break period will be assessed the full break housing charge amount. In addition, any student who accesses a hall without a break housing contract will be referred to either the Residential Life judicial process or to the University Police for trespassing.

Check-in at ISR, PAR, FAR, and Snyder will start at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2016.
