Student Workers: What You Need to Bring to Campus

Students: If you are planning to work on campus, please remember to bring the following documents with you. 

Domestic Students

  • 1 document from List A OR 1 document each from List B and C (See List of Acceptable Documents - pdf)
  • Current student ID card (i-card)
  • Financial Aid Award letter (if applicable)

International Students

F-1 Visa Holders must have all of the following:

  • Passport
  • Visa
  • I-94 card (front and back)
  • Form I-20 (page 1 and 3)
  • Any documentation for change of status
  • TCN or SSN*
  • Current Student ID Card (i-card)

J-1 Visa Holders must have all of the following:

  • Passport
  • Visa
  • I-94 card (front and back)
  • Form DS-2019
  • Any documentation for change of status
  • TCN or SSN*
  • Current Student ID Card (i-card)

*International students: Note about the SSN (Social Security Number) or TCN (Temporary Control Number)— If you do not have a Social Security Card, then you must go to the Illini Union Bookstore (when you get your i-card you can also get your TCN) and get a Temporary Control Number before coming to check in.

Also please note:

  • You are required to bring your original documents and an additional copy.
  • Please make sure all of your documents carry the same legal name on them.
  • You are required to bring your original Social Security card for the purpose of verifying the name to be entered into the payroll system only. The Social Security card is not required/requested for I-9 documentation purposes.
